Valuing Nature’s Benefits: The State of Ecosystem Services, Science and Practice in Ontario (FORUM)

Calling for Abstracts - Deadline: August 15, 2011

Prior to the start of this year’s A.D. Latornell Conservation Symposium, the newly formed Ontario Network on Ecosystem Services (ONES) is hosting a full day forum exploring the state of ecosystem services in Ontario. This event will bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss where we are and where we’re going.

The forum will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Nottawasaga Inn, Alliston, Ontario.

You are invited to submit an abstract (1 page or less). Abstract deadline: Monday, August 15, 2011

Possible topics:

  • Valuation of ecosystem services
  • Incentive mechanisms for protection & restoration
  • Influencing policy direction
  • Implementing payment for ecosystem services
  • And more…

The steering committee for this Forum consists of members from Alternative Land Use Services, Canadian Model Forest Network, Credit Valley Conservation, Conservation Ontario, Eastern Ontario Model Forest, Greenbelt, Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Ontario Forestry Association, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Region of Peel and the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Toronto.
