Indigenous Opening Ceremony: Raiden Levesque, Binesi Doodem (Thunderbird Clan) Indigenous Engagement Specialist, Credit Valley Conservation

Raiden Levesque was born in Mississauga, Ontario. Raiden is a citizen of The Métis Nation Of Ontario, his Métis ancestors stem from the Red River Settlements on his Fathers side. Métis surnames Pilon and Dupuis. His ancestry on his father’s side is French, Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, and Dakota. On his mother’s side he is of Irish and Scottish ancestry. Raiden worked in the Urban Indigenous communities in Toronto for over a decade at Anishnawbe Health Toronto, prior to joining Credit Valley Conservation in 2023. He also sits on The Indigenous Networks, Board of Directors, as the Vice President in Mississauga.

Raiden loves to participate in ceremony any chance he can, he is considered an Oshkabewis (helper), and Fire Keeper. He dedicates a great deal of his time to supporting community, bridge building for Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, while always striving to live Mino-Bimaadiziwin (“The Good Life”). His Spirit name is White Bear Standing, and he is Thunderbird Clan.
